To most people, it's a wonder to watch someone sleep - the way their eyes stay closed the whole time, their breathing patterns and sounds, and the way they lie down on whatever surface it may be, bed or floor. And for a basic professional sleeper, Carey Howard had always ended up in a position where someone would be watching him sleep, at a time that he totally didn't mean to doze off.
This time he hadn't been slumped in a chair by the fire, in a classroom during a boring lesson, or with his face on the table, using his half-finished Transfiguration essay as a pillow. It could actually be a combination of all three, as it had certain aspects of all encorporated into one. On one of the couches near the fire, he had settled himself in against the comfortable blue-and-black ornate cushions and pillows, his herbology textbook in hand for his full intention to study.
But obviously, that didn't work out, since now he was lying down instead of sitting up, one hand behind his head and the other touching the bind of the book, the book itself resting on his upper chest. His glasses were still on - he usually never used them at all in front of other people, and his short, soft breaths and sighs of sleepiness could be heard in the quiet common room - it was simply the perfect setting to take a nap.

London walked into the common room and looked for Lisette but instead spotted Carey and giggled quietly. He still had his glasses one. He looked kind of silly, but once you get to know someone you don't care if they look like total dorks. She suddenly got an idea and tried not to burst out laughing at her own cleverness.
She came up beside him and trasformed a sickle left on the floor into a feather. She was still trying to keep herself from bursting out laughing as she gently touched the feather to his ear. She repeated this process for a few seconds then stopped.

Carey wasn't really having a dream, but more of a renactment of a situation that had happened recently. The whole I-like-Abby-but-people-want-me-to-go-on-a- blind-date-with-another-person dilemma. Maybe that's why he was so tired, because he spent a good amount of time dwelling on those thoughts.
Nonetheless, he was a moderate sleeper and usually wasn't able to be awakened by little feelings or sounds. But he did feel some sort of tingling sensation on his ear, and he raised his hand to swat it away. After a few moments, it stopped, and he mumbled a few incoherent words, "Mother, leave me be, I need my beauty rest."

Matt was walking by when he saw the interesting scene in the common room. He stopped and smirked, watching the going-ons. He almost laughed out loud when Carey mumbled about his mother. "Dude, she's way too young to be your mum." He said, grinning at London.

Having had heard another voice that was much more effective than whatever was touching his ear, Carey uttered a groan of discontent and opened his eyes. "Huh?" Sitting up and supporting himself with his elbows against the couch, the Herbology textbook slid down his chest and to his lap. "Oh...hi guys..."
His vision adjusted from its sleepy blur to normal, and he stared at both London and Matt, who were standing in front of him. Blinking, he looked around and then in between the both of them. Running a hand through his hair, he adjusted his glasses while stiffling a yawn, and suddenly he cocked an eyebrow in slight embarassment. "Hold on a second, how long have you here? And...have you been watching me sleep this whole time?"

Matt laughed and shook his head. "I just got here, man. I'm sorry I missed it, though. You know how I love to watch you sleep." He said sarcastically. "I think London was trying to play with you, though." He added, nodding toward London.

London giggled and quickly pulled the feather up when he swatted at it. She was about to say something but before she could Matt spoke. She looked up at him and laughed quietly also returning his smile.
"I'm sorry Carey. I couldn't resist. You're just so cute with your glasses on!" she joked. He did look kind of childish when he had them on. She tried to throw her feather at Carey but it just ended up going about two inches out then floated down.

Carey smirked at Matt's comment, folding his arms across his chest. "I'm sure you do, really, since I bet you do that every single night in the dormitory. But consider yourself lucky, not everyone has that honor - most of the girls would kill for that. I don't know or see any reason why they would, but they do anyway."
Turning to London, he stroked his chin and gave her a pout, after adjusting the position of his glasses on the bridge of his nose. "Don't they make me look a lot smarter? Now now, London, I know you're definitely kidding when you say that - don't lie!" The laugh and amusement was present in his voice and visible in his eyes, and he leaned forward to catch the hovering feather in in palm. "However, I'm glad I could provide you with amusement. But what's up - what're you up to, besides disturbing people's sleep time?"

London sighed "No, really! They make you look," she coughed "Cute..." She kept her self from laughing. "Oh, well, I'm thinking about writing an essay that's due next week just to get it done with, but I could wait until the weekend. You know, if it means I get to talk to you." she joked again. She was in a good mood.

Carey laughed brightly, though it was still laced with the feeling of fatigue. "True Ravenclaw that is, missy. I think I already finished all my weekly homework...save studying, since that was what I was doing before I fell asleep, honest!"
He crossed his leg over his knee, shaking his head in amusement. "Thanks for the compliments, though. And you know I'm always there for you to talk to. But hey, what subject is that essay on, maybe I can help. There's talking involved in that."

London groaned quietly. "Well, I have to do a essay on Miss. Ravenclaw herslef for History of magic. I know alot but I haven't gotten to writing it yet..." she sat down on the couched and sighed as she took Carey's bood out of his lap.

Matt sat down in one of the chairs around the fireplace and looked at the book Carey held in his hands. "So... Miss. Ravenclaw herself, eh?" He asked, crossing his legs Indian style. "That should be interesting. I have to write a paper on Slytherin." He stated, rolling his eyes. "Weird man, that."

London laughed. "Aww, Matt I'm sorry. Well, on the upside you could write about the supposed 'Chamber of Secrets' or something to that matter..." she laughed. The chamber was just a myth, but it could take up a lot of parchment, it got the job done. "I have nothing to write on but cleverness."

Matt brightened up. "Yeah. Then I wouldn't have to spend as much time on it." He said, grinning at London. "You're a genius." He told London. He thought about her topic for a bit. "Hey, wasn't it established in the middle ages? If so, you could talk about what kind of views people had on her cleverness. People back then didn't view women as intelligent." He suggested.

London laughed once again. "I know, I know..." she paused waiting to hear what he was about to say "Yeah..It was really pathetic back then when a guy got beaten by a girl...I guess you're a bit of a genius too. Thanks oh master of cleverness." she joked.
