-Family Tides-
((I figured it was time for the masses to meet a character I don’t exactly get to use, but mention in passing all the time. Eventually, I’m more then likely going to have to use him- well,
them I suppose I should say. For now, I think its best I just introduce them in story mode…I’m honestly not used to writing short stories, so if the ones I post suck, I’m sorry…xD))
For the Creed family, Christmas was never really a time for celebration. Normally, families would gather, rejoice, spend quality time, bring gifts, and share stories about how great life has been treating them throughout the year. For the Creed siblings, however, this was not the case. As it was, the youngest of the siblings was currently sat in a rather admittedly uncomfortable chair within the folds of St. Mungos. In her lap sat a rather plainly wrapped gift, though the expression on the girl’s face was crest-fallen and bleak. The semi-curly locks of red hair were framing her delicate face, the grey-ish orbs of her eyes fogged over with warnings of tears. Normally, she didn’t have to sit where she currently was alone, but as it were her older brother hadn’t managed to show up, and her sister? Well, who knew?
Finally, after what seemed to take
ages, a Medi-witch promptly made her way over to the young red-head. “Des?” she questioned, leaning to put her hands on her knees in an attempt to get a better look at the girl’s face. “The gift checks out alright, luv. You can go in to see him now.”
Adessa could only sit there for a moment, staring at the dark-haired witch as if she’d not heard her correctly. A nod proved this theory wrong, however, and she stood up, sliding from her seat with a heavy sigh. There was a first time for everything, it would seem. Slowly, the RavenClaw made her way towards the room she had all but dreaded going near by herself. Still, she was already here, and if Mathew and Samantha weren’t going to show up, she had no choice but to go inside herself. With a deep, shaky breath, Des’ hand reached up and pushed the door open, granting her access into the folds of the hospital room. From there, however, she took her time in entering. The room was dimly lit, the only source of light penetrating what would be complete darkness coming from over the top of the bed the girl was now carefully making her way towards.
Within the folds of the bed lay a simple enough looking man. Clean shaved, hair combed and tidy, yet the look to his deep grey eyes was distant- vacant, and the fact caused Dessy to wince as she drew close enough to see this. She gazed at the man within the bed, a look torn between fear and longing written across her features. Normally, she’d have reached out to touch him, but the expression on his face- it just probably wouldn’t have been the best of ideas. So instead, she slowly opened her mouth to gain his attention vocally.
“Dad?” she stated quietly, shrinking back a bit due to the startled jolt that shook the man’s body.
Said man jerked a bit, turning his head to give the girl in his room an intrusive look. He gazed at her, staring as if he had no idea just who she was or what she was doing in his room. “What do you want?” he asked harshly, his eyes narrowing dangerously as he gazed at her. “I told Nancy no visitors! If my own damn kids can’t even come visit me, why should anyone else?!”
The harshness to her father’s tone caused Des to wince and step back. He was having one of his
days as Nancy would put it, and there would be no getting him to recognize her. “I’m sorry,” she stated quietly in reply. “I just wanted to bring you a Christmas present, sir.” she added, tipping the box in her arms a bit. “I’ll just leave it on the dresser and let you tend to it on your own.”
“Bah! I don’t need your pity gifts, girl! I’ve got kids to bring me gifts! Get outta my room!”
Nothing was said in response to the man. Des could only nod and turn from the bed, making her way hurriedly out of the room all together. Once the door shut firmly behind her, fat tears escaped the girl’s eyes, staining her cheeks one at a time. It was never an easy thing to deal with, when her father was in such a mood, but every other time her brother had at least been there to help her through it, and now? She was forced to deal with it on her own.
“Hey, kiddo…I told you not to go in there until I got here.”
Or so she had thought. Quickly Dessy’s gaze shot up, locking with dark green eyes that were once again bent to her level. The male responsible for the statement had his head canted to one side, an eyebrow arched as he gazed at his sister. Short locks of mousey-brown hair adorned his head and a gentle smile was graced upon his lips.
“Matty!” she nearly exclaimed, throwing her arms out and around her brother’s neck.
A soft chuckle escaped the man’s lips and he pulled his younger sister to him in a tight, comforting embrace. “You should know better, Des. You shouldn’t go in there to see him on your own. I told you I’d be here.”
“But you were so late,” Dessy replied once her brother had set her back down on her feet. “I didn’t think you’d show up.”
“Me?” he questioned, arching an eyebrow. “Not show up to support my sister? Perish the thought.” Matty replied, waving a hand dismissively. “Though it would seem since you already visited the old man and he had one of his fits, we’ll just have to do something else until tomorrow, yes?”
The younger of the siblings nodded to this, offering her brother a shaky smile.
“Well, alright then. C’mon, we’ll go get something to eat, then head back to my flat. How’s that sound?” another nod assured him of his sister’s opinion and he smiled warmly at her, offering her his hand. “Alright, lets go.”
There was silence between the two for several long moments, though Matty seemed intent to break the silence first. “By the way, Des, I heard a rather interesting rumor about you and a certain boy at Hogwarts.”
This earned a somewhat surprised sound from the younger sibling and she turned her eyes upwards towards her brother once again.
“I do believe we have some discussing to do, yes?”
Dessy could only stare at her brother in response to these words for a long moment. Slowly, however, she found herself nodding. It would seem discussing wedding plans with her brother were going to happen without Remus after all…
((Kinda pointless, but I was bored and had inspiration! So uh…there’s an insight to part of Dessy’s dysfunctional family! XD))
