It would suck to be a fish =[ Well seeing as he has said "Breeding" it sounds more like they are like bacteria. Maybe they just multiply when in large groups. no mating involved?? i dunno I get back to this when I'm feeling sciency

I checked my "Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them" book, and it seems that they are not considered animals or beasts. So they must be some type of human or a humanoid if that's possible in the magical world.
And yes, I agree, it would suck to be a fish.

YAY I'M AWESOME AND RIGHT =]
Heres stuff i found out and the last sentence proves my theor y =] =] =] woooot. Fungi is a bacteria and it doesnt breed, it just multiplies when in a large mass through mitosis.
In the books, Dementors appear to have a generally human shape, approximately three metres in height, but covered in dark, hooded cloaks which reveal only grey, decayed hands and faces. The wraith-like creatures have no eyes, and there is a large hole where the mouth should be, which is used for sucking the soul out of the victim in a process called the "Dementor's Kiss". According to the author, J.K. Rowling, they grow like fungi in the darkest, dankest places, creating a dense, chilly fog.
